My friend Cassidy sent these postcards to me between 2006 and 2010, after moving to Texas. We went from being next door neighbors, to long-distance best friends with 600+ miles between us. These are the covers to the postcards, the messages on them are displayed in my book. These cheap gas station/dollar store postcards inspired me to write the poems that started Stamped. My favorite college poetry professor gave us an assignment to write a poem anagram of another piece of writing. The poem "You are the Compliment" is that anagram and the first poem I wrote after her death. The "Texas" postcard with monkeys in straw hats is the corresponding cover.

These messages from Cassidy have become small treasures in the wake of losing her, providing me with tiny, still-life images of our friendship and lives at the time they were sent.
